# Bypassing ISP Firewalls & Advanced Security

```
If your Ghost Cable connection suddenly drops, the stream refuses to load, or your Electronic Program Guide (EPG) shows up entirely blank despite having a fast internet connection, the issue is almost always your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Many major ISPs have recently introduced "Advanced Security," "Safe Browsing," or "Family Shield" features that are turned **ON** by default on new routers. While meant to block malware, these aggressive firewalls frequently flag and block private, third-party media pipelines.
To restore your unthrottled connection, you need to disable these specific security features on your ISP account or router application.
## Alternative: The VPN Protocol
If you have successfully disabled your ISP's security features, completely restarted your router, and the stream still refuses to connect, you may be located in a highly restricted region where the ISP uses Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) to throttle media bandwidth actively during live events.
In this scenario, you will need to route your hardware through a standard **VPN (Virtual Private Network)**. A VPN encrypts your traffic, making it impossible for your ISP to see what you are streaming, thereby bypassing all local blocks.
